Ancient Roman Glass Gallery

Ancient Roman Glass beads and fragments come from shards of glass vessels that are found during archeological digs prior to new building and development. My Roman glass is late Roman-Era, when Romans occupied the eastern borders of ancient silks routes, circa 100-400 AD, in what is now modern-day Afghanistan. The Romans were prolific glass makers and incorporated their trade in areas they conquered and today, local tradesmen make beads from the broken shards of glass. These beads are becoming increasingly available for purchase at specialty outlets.  I love working with the ancient glass because of its historical significance and the stories that must be behind each piece of glass.
